According to the current legislation, a non-working able-bodied parent has the right to receive a monthly compensation payment in the amount of 100 minimum wage (970 rubles) when caring for a disabled child. Recipient categories can be expanded. The Supreme Council adopted amendments to the law "On Social Protection of the Disabled" in the first reading today. They assume that guardians and caregivers of disabled children will also be eligible for the payment. In addition, the legislation proposes to prescribe social support for people with disabilities from childhood of groups I and II after reaching 18 years of age who need outside help (based on the conclusion of a medical institution). Non-working parents, guardians, trustees or close relatives caring for them are invited to provide a compensation payment in the amount of 970 rubles per month.
Speaking at the plenary session, the Head of the Social Policy Committee, Sergei Cheban, stressed that such a social payment has been implemented in Pridnestrovie since 2019 and concerns disabled children. According to the Ministry of Social Protection, 1087 disabled people of the 1st group and 3 disabled people of the 2nd group temporarily need help in the republic.
When preparing the law-in-draft for consideration in the second reading, the economic situation in the republic and the possibilities of the republican budget will be taken into account. It is planned that the rules regarding the payment of compensation will come into force from January next year.
