Social support of citizens in priority

13.07.2018

The main vector of the work of the Committee on Social Policy, Health, Labor, Family and Childhood Issues during the spring session was aimed at fulfilling the state's social obligations to citizens. The head of the profile committee of the Supreme Council Sergei Cheban told this in an interview with the parliamentary press service.

Changes in legislation affected various categories of citizens: pensioners, combatants, widows and parents of those killed as a result of military trauma. Deputies of the Committee closely interacted with the guardianship and trusteeship bodies. One of the legislations was aimed at protecting children who were at risk because of a complicated family situation.

One of the issues on the agenda of the relevant committee concerned employment, in particular, combatants, who have almost reached the retirement age and are registered in the employment centers. With regard to this category of citizens, as it was noted by Sergei Cheban, it was possible to introduce a change in legislation only in terms of increasing the amount of unemployment benefits.

The parliamentarians took an active part in the work of the interdepartmental commissions, including on reforming the healthcare sphere.

He expressed the conviction that the Supreme Council should return to solving the health problems in September.
