The state will continue to provide social support during the period of emergency and quarantine to schoolchildren and pupils of educational institutions who are entitled to reduced price meals. The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky introduced amendments to the law on state support measures during the period of emergency and restrictive measures in 2020 in the regime of legislative necessity. According to the current version of the law, food packages or monetary compensation at the option of beneficiaries receive before the resumption of activities of educational organizations. Schools and other educational institutions have been opened since September 1, but food has not yet been organized in them due to the epidemiological situation with coronavirus and preventive measures. Today, in two readings at once, the Deputies of the Supreme Council supported the amendments to the law that clarify that preferential categories of schoolchildren and other pupils of educational institutions can count on such social support until the canteens are opened.
The right to receive food packages is proposed to be extended to minor children with disabilities who, in person or in absentia, attend medical and social preventive institutions, rehabilitation centers (departments) for day care of children with disabilities, but who do not fall under the conditions for payment of monetary compensation. They will be able to independently submit an application to replace the food set for monetary compensation when this category of children reaches legal capacity (by age or for medical reasons).
The adopted amendments will require amending the Decree of the PMR Government dated April 15, 2020 No. 113 "On approval of the Regulation on the procedure for purchasing and issuing food sets" and will enter into force after being signed by the President.
