One of the most considerable holidays for Tiraspol, as well as for Dubossary and Grigoriopol, became the date of April 12, 1944. 974 tragic days and nights of occupation killed 4 thousand residents of Tiraspol. The memory of the Soviet soldiers passes from generation to generation. It is immortalized in poems and songs, dressed in granite. Hundreds come to the capital Tiraspol Glory Memorial every year to honor the memory of those who by their feat approached the day of liberation from Nazi invaders. This year, April 12 is traditionally held a rally-requiem. It was attended by leaders of the republic, deputies of the Supreme Council, court presidents, heads of state administration and the City Council of Tiraspol, representatives of the Tiraspol-Dubossary Diocese, the head of Abkhazia official representatives of South Ossetia and Pridnestrovie, representatives of the command of the operational group of Russian troops in Pridnestrovie, residents and guests of the capital. They honored fallen heroes with a minute of silence, fresh flowers were laid to the granite slabs.
