The law-in-draft has been submitted to the State Duma of the Russian Federation supplementing the current law “On days of military glory and memorable dates of Russia” and proposing to hold a federal Minute of Silence on the Day of Memory and Grief on June 22.
It was authored by deputies of all factions of the State Duma - Deputy Chairmen of the State Duma Irina Yarovaya (“United Russia”) and Igor Lebedev (LDPR), First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs (faction of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation) and First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on state construction and legislation, Mikhail Emelyanov (“Fair Russia”).
In addition, the law-in-draft proposes extending a number of provisions of the law “On days of military glory and memorable dates of Russia” to events dedicated to memorable dates in Russia, which will make it possible to make more public information about such events, as well as about the exploits of soldiers killed in the defense of the Fatherland.
According to Irina Yarovaya, holding a federal Minute of Silence is possible, for example, at 12:15 Moscow time - the exact time of the airing of appeals to Soviet citizens about the attack of Nazi Germany on the Soviet Union and the beginning of the Great Patriotic War against the fascist aggressor.
