07.07.2021

The "Tank crossing" monument was erected on May 9, 1985. It was the 40th anniversary of the celebration of the Great Victory. The idea belonged to the villagers who wanted to perpetuate the memory of Soviet soldiers and civilians who died on the Dniester River. According to the Head of the museum of history in Sukleya Irina Rozhko, the village was liberated from the German-Romanian invaders on the April 12, 1944. It was decided after the liberation to build a bridge across the Dniester River for the ferry of heavy artillery and further Jassy-Kishinev operation to liberate Moldova and the entire Balkan direction.

A small concrete memorial sign was erected at the site of the tank crossing in the post-war period. The monument was enlarged and moved to another place in 1985. The moment of the crossing of Soviet troops was depicted on a black plate in 2009. There are no soldiers' graves at the site of the memorial. They are located in the center of the village, where the Monument to Soviet soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 is located.

The Memorial Alley of the 1944 tank crossing was placed next to the monument, an arch was installed, and trees were planted on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the Great Victory. The idea belongs to the deputy of the Slobodzeya District Council Yakov Sokolov. The initiative was supported by colleagues in the deputy corps. There are plans to move the memorial sign and place it at the end of the Alley.

It was suggested to include the "Tank crossing" in the Unified State Register of Immovable Cultural Heritage Sites by the deputy of the Supreme Council for the Constituency No.22 "Sukleisky" Stepan Stepanov and the Head of the village of Sukleya Yuri Khorin. The initiative was presented to the Parliament by the Government.

The law-in-draft on amendments to the law "On the Unified State Register of Immovable Objects of Cultural Heritage of the PMR" was adopted at the plenary session in two readings at once. "Tank crossing" will be included in the "Historical Monuments" section. The document has been sent for signature to the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.
