Preservation of monuments and history of the Great Patriotic War

14.04.2021

13 out of 15 planned monuments and memorials were restored in Pridnestrovie last year. The Head of the State Service for Culture and Historical Heritage Maria Kyrmyz announced this today in the course of the plenary session of the PMR Supreme Council. She presented a report on the implementation and spending in 2020 of the financial resources of the state program for the preservation of immovable cultural heritage sites. Earlier the state program was designed for three years, it included monuments that require urgent repair. Basically, these are monuments that perpetuate the memory of those killed in the Great Patriotic War, and buildings associated with the life and work of prominent statesmen and military leaders.

The State Service for Culture reported that about 3.5 million rubles from the state budget and 6 thousand rubles from the local budget were spent on the repair and restoration of 13 monuments last year under the state program. The Tiraspol Memorial of Glory was repaired at the expense of the Capital Investment Fund, and the Memorial in Rybnitsa - at the expense of the regional budget.

The planned renovation of the monument to Soviet soldiers in the village of Krasny Vinogradar, Dubossary district, planned in 2020, was not completed due to the fact that the contract was not concluded on time. The restoration is planned to be carried out in 2021 after amendments to the law. The funds pledged in 2020 for the repair of the memorial house-museum of the Hero of the Soviet Union I.N.Koval in Kamenka will also be redistributed to another facility in 2021. The house-museum was renovated at the first stage - in 2019 with the assistance of sponsors.

The Supreme Council and the State Service for Culture consider that the state program for the restoration and preservation of the monuments of the Great Patriotic War should be continued.
