The working meeting was held on the topic "On topical issues of inter-parliamentary, humanitarian and socio-economic cooperation with Pridnestrovie" at the State Duma Committee for CIS Affairs and Relations with Compatriots in Moscow today. Along with the parliamentary-government delegation of Pridnestrovie, the round table was attended by deputies of the State Duma, senators of the Federation Council and representatives of Russian ministries. Members of the Presidium of the PMR Supreme Council joined the meeting via video link from the parliamentary briefing hall in Tiraspol.
The Head of the delegation, Chairman of the PMR Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov, in his report focused on the main social and humanitarian issues that concern both residents of Pridnestrovie and the country's leadership. First of all, this is the possibility of obtaining Russian citizenship under a simplified scheme, especially for the younger generation of Pridnestrovians.
Alexander Korshunov focused on the necessity of social support for vulnerable categories of Pridnestrovians, such as the disabled, as well as on increasing the insurance experience to receive a Russian pension.
Alexander Korshunov emphasized that providing targeted assistance to citizens, expanding the right to obtain Russian citizenship will signal the invariability of Russia's long-term interests in this regional space, its determination to protect the rights and legitimate interests of citizens of the Russian Federation and Russian compatriots, and the inviolability of the Russian peacekeeping presence on the Dniester.
The speaker's speech was supported by the deputies of the Supreme Council and Russian colleagues. The Head of the Committee on Economic Policy, Budget and Finance of the PMR Supreme Council Viktor Guzun, PMR Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev and Deputy Chairman of the PRB Aleksey Melnik presented their reports on the economic situation and foreign policy situation. Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Elena Drapeko, who knows firsthand about the situation in Pridnestrovie and Moldova, called on her colleagues to act immediately.
Senators of the Federation Council and representatives of the executive authorities of the Russian Federation took part in the discussion of the situation in Pridnestrovie. The conversation in Moscow was closely followed by the Pridnestrovian deputies from the briefing hall of the PMR Supreme Council.
