Parliamentarians considered legislative initiative of Deputy Oleg Leontiev "On Amending the Law of PMR" on Fisheries and the Preservation of Aquatic Biological Resources of Pridnestrovie" in the course of the plenary session. He proposes to prohibit fishing for three years to preserve the water bioresources of the Dniester.
Recently, the problem of shallowing of the waterway important for Pridnestrovians is discussed at various venues, and not only in our republic. Environmentalists are trumpeting about the danger threatening the Dniester. Including because of shallowing, the river ceases to be a natural spawning ground for many species of fish, which a few decades ago were its inhabitants. Biodiversity is decreasing. The reproduction of fish in the Dniester, according to Oleg Leontiev, has a negative impact. The parliamentarian said measures must be taken urgently to keep the Dniester's biobalance.
However, there are different opinions on this issue. Commercial fishing provides jobs. The deputies supported the introduced law-in-draft in the first reading, work on it will continue.
