Compliance with medical confidentiality

13.05.2021

Chairman of the Committee on Social Policy and Healthcare Sergei Cheban came up with an initiative and proposed to enshrine the norm that prohibits, when registering the results of a medical examination, entering information about the diagnosis of an employee without his consent. It will be possible to indicate only the suitability or unsuitability for work in the medical report.

According to the law "On the basics of protecting the health of citizens", information contained in a citizen's medical documents constitutes a medical secret and can be provided without his consent only in exceptional cases. For example, when there is a threat of the spread of infectious diseases, mass poisoning, or at the request of the prosecutor's office.

Deputies of the Supreme Council supported the initiative of their colleague and adopted amendments to the law "On the sanitary and epidemiological welfare of the population" in two readings at once.
