Slobodzeya widely celebrated the 255th anniversary of the first chronicle mention on the 21st of September. Deputy of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic for constituency No. 21 "Slobodzeya" Pavel Shinkaryuk took part in the festive events.
The festive events began in the early morning. Citizens and guests of the city gathered together to celebrate a significant date in the history of Slobodzeya. Colorful courtyards were opened in the very heart of the city, where everyone could get acquainted with the cultural traditions of not only Slobodzeya, but Slobodzeya district settlements. The Houses of Culture in Slobodzeya and Pervomaysk, and the villages of Blizhniy Khutor and Karagash presented creative and cultural programs. Everyone could feel the spirit of traditions, appreciate the skills of folk craftsmen, and learn more about the rich history of the region in these courtyards. Thematic exhibitions of local institutions were organized – the Historical Museum, the central library, the children's art school, and the Center for Children and Youth Creativity in Slobodzeya. Particular attention was paid to children, for whom master classes were held, as well as an exhibition and sale of handicrafts.
Residents of Slobodzeya were congratulated by the head of the district state administration Vasily Tishchenko, the deputy of the Supreme Council Pavel Shinkaruk, and the dean of the Slobodzeya district, Archpriest Andrei Danilescu from the stage of the Arcade Complex.
Award ceremony was held after the official congratulations. A number of city residents were awarded honorary awards for their conscientious work and contribution to the development of the district. Families who had lived together for many years were noted: the Dontsu family, the Erokhin family and the Zhidovanu family. Commemorative awards were presented to the jubilee heroes Maria Pavlovna Korotnyan and Viktor Nikolaevich Zaporozhchuk.
Sports competitions became an integral part of the celebration, everyone could take part in a bike ride and tourist competitions. Particular attention at the holiday was drawn to the events organized on the initiative of the deputy Pavel Shinkaryuk. There were competitions among them in the national wrestling trynta, where participants competed for a live rooster, a rabbit and a ram. The tournament in checkers-64 for the Pavel Shinkaryuk Cup brought together more than 30 participants from Slobodzeya, the villages of Chobruchi and Nezavertaylivka. The winners of the tournament were awarded medals, Certificates and Cups. The festive events ended with a concert by the Viorika ensemble in the Summer Cinema, and the day culminated in a colorful fireworks display.
