Penalties for the use of devices that simulate tobacco smoking

08.07.2020

Deputies adopted amendments to the PMR Code on Administrative Offenses today in the course of the plenary meeting. Administrative responsibility is for the use by minors of devices imitating smoking, and their involvement in the process of smoking tobacco now.

Such devices include hookahs, electronic cigarettes, vapes, spice and many others. Until now, minors could be fined only for smoking and adults for involvement in the smoking process.

Amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses initiated by the Committee on Social Policy and Healthcare were adopted by the Supreme Council in final reading. They are created to eliminate internal contradictions between the Code of Administrative Code adopted today and amendments to the law "On the protection of the health of citizens from the effects of surrounding tobacco smoke and the consequences of tobacco consumption". Amendments to this law proposed by deputy Grigory Dyachenko are under consideration by the Supreme Council and are being prepared for adoption in the second reading. They will regulate at the state level restrictions on the use of devices that simulate tobacco smoking and the consumption of evaporative mixtures by minors, as well as establish a ban on advertising vaporization mixtures and devices that simulate tobacco smoking.
