Deputies of the PMR Supreme Council talk about the role of the founder of Tiraspol Commander Alexander Suvorov in the joint long history of Russia and Pridnestrovie.
A fortress was built on the left bank of the Dniester on the site of a village burned by the Turks, and then in 1792 the city of Tiraspol was founded after the second Russian-Turkish war. This was the beginning of the joint history of Russia and Pridnestrovie.
According to the Deputy of the Committee on Economic Policy Alexander Korshunov, Russia and Pridnestrovie are together forever. He thinks that every Pridnestrovian is grateful to history for the fact that the vector of interests of Russian politics turned towards the Dniester. The Russian world has become entrenched in our land precisely thanks to the brilliant commander Count Suvorov and the victory of his army in the second Russian-Turkish war.
Chairman of the Committee on Youth Policy Igor Buga emphasized that Tiraspol appeared as a counterbalance to Bendery, because Turkish soldiers were there at that time. The city was built hard, the soldiers were sick a lot. But it is very symbolic that our city was founded by Alexander Vasilyevich Suvorov by the decree of Catherine II. He is a truly great commander. His military path, his career as Generalissimo is fanned with the glory of victories over all opponents. Moreover, the victories by means of small quantity, namely skill. History speaks about it. This is very symbolic and largely predetermined the fate of our region as well.
The Deputy noted that the Pridnestrovian land is saturated with the spirit of the glorious deeds of the commander Suvorov, the largest monument to which stands in the central square of Tiraspol.
Alexander Korshunov said that in the middle of the twentieth century, the glorious successors of Suvorov's deeds liberated both our region and all of Europe from the fascist invaders - the brown plague. Russian peacekeepers brought peace to our land, and have been keeping it for 28 years in 1992.
The parliamentarians noted that the name of the count and commander Alexander Suvorov in our republic is now associated with the younger generation.
