The role of the media in the protection and development of the PMR

29.09.2022

The formation and role of the mass media of Pridnestrovie in the development of the young republic was discussed at the State University. Experienced journalists and students of the Department of Journalism presented their research on this topic. Chairman of the Committee on Education, Public Associations and Mass Media Igor Buga and his deputy Andrei Safonov took part in the discussion.

The event was held within the framework of the 30th anniversary of the repulse of the large-scale aggression of the Republic of Moldova against the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.

"The Striking Tiraspol", "The Bulletin of Rybnitsa", "The Dnestrovskaya Pravda" - the first press organs of Pridnestrovie, the first radio broadcasts and the first television news. The struggle for the creation of republic, our own state, became the beginning of the development of Pridnestrovian journalism, independent media and press services of the authorities.

Veterans of journalism, members of the United Strike Committee, an organization that actually led the process of creating Pridnestrovie as a state, gathered at the round table. They remembered the names of all the first editors who took upon themselves the burden of responsibility and delivered the truth about the events in Pridnestrovie to the world in spite of everything. Industry veterans noted that the press services of the President and the Supreme Council have become an important part of the information space today. Official information from the press services about the activities of the PMR President and the Supreme Council was especially needed in the early 90s of the XX century then. They worked promptly. For example, the information and analysis service of the Supreme Council broadcasted on Pridnestrovian radio with a report on the situation in the city and with a statement from the parliament at 6 a.m. on June 20, only 12 hours after the attack of the armed formations of Moldova on Bendery.

The Supreme Council plays an important role in the development of journalism. Member of the Joint Strike Committee, deputy of the Supreme Council of the first convocation Vyacheslav Zagryadsky was in fact the first cameraman – while the development of cable TV channels and the creation of television studios was going on in the cities, he filmed rallies against the law on language adopted by Chisinau, referendums and events important for the creation of the republic. Everything is now in the archives of state television. Vladimir Yemelyanov, head of the Joint Strike Committee of the PMR, spoke about this today. The Olvia-Press agency has also entered the information space from the relevant parliamentary committee. It is the only news agency in the Republic of News of Pridnestrovie now. The Pridnestrovian State University was created with the help of the media – after an information note about the need for a state university. The auditoriums of the Pridnestrovian State University were located in the current building of the Supreme Council.
