Early 60-ies of the last century Cuba - was one of the heroic pages of Soviet history not written in native land, but blood of Soviet soldiers. 43 thousand people and combat weapons, including atomic, were secretly to protect Cubans from US aggression. Among the participants of "Anadyr" secret operation were natives from Pridnestrovian region. One of them – is resident of Kamenka Michael Lupashco. He did not return home from the island, where he serviced: died October 7, 1963 in the performance of international duty. He was buried in a Cuban village Torrens. But this place did not become the last refuge of a soldier. 15 years later, he and his comrades were reburied. They found eternal rest under the slabs of the memorial complex of El Chico, established on the outskirts of Havana for the 60th anniversary of the Soviet Armed Forces.
Pridnestrovian Association for Friendship with Cuba was created in November 2010. More than 130 participants of "Anadyr" military-strategic operation, which took place in the period from 1 July 1962 to 30 November 1963, in the territory of the Republic of Cuba, are members of the public organizations. In fact, more former soldiers of the epicenter of events during the Caribbean crisis live in Pridnestrovie. Secrecy, which was held under the operation, to prevent a nuclear war, did these people "invisible". Lifting the veil of secrecy, descendants open new names of the heroes. Memorial plate was installed in 2014 in school building№1 Kamenka, where studied Misha Lupashco. This was not enough. Heavy involuntary oblivion still pressed. Then it was decided to establish monument in his homeland to "Cuban-kamenchanin" Lupashco. The funds were collected by the whole world. Comrades from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Krasnodar, Stavropol helped. The ground, brought from Havana memorial, made its 12 thousand kilometers way, to the sister of the hero fro she could bow to his brother, without leaving the city where he was born and dreamed of living.
