Residents of Rybnitsa celebrate today the 73rd anniversary of the liberation of their hometown from the German-Romanian invaders. Deputies of the Supreme Council Andrei Safonov, Vadim Kravchuk, Vitaly Kalin, Yakov Galak, Valentin Matveychuk, city authorities and citizens came to the memorial to General Konstantin Tsvetkov, who headed the 41st Guards Rifle Division as part of the 2nd Ukrainian Front. It was this unit that, during the Uman-Botoshan offensive operation, liberated the territory of the Rybnitsa district and Rybnitsa from the fascists. The meeting continued at the Memorial of Military Glory, where the townspeople laid flowers and honored the memory of the liberators of the city with a minute of silence. Fresh flowers were laid to the monuments.
About 8 thousand of the Rybnitsa people died from hands of fascist executioners in the years of the Great Patriotic War. Residents of Rybnitsa every year, the day of the liberation of the city, pay tribute to veterans-front-line soldiers, home front workers, underground fighters who rose to defend the Motherland.
