Sidewalk repair was funded from the Voter Mandate Fund

24.06.2024

The sidewalk along which children walk to primary school and kindergarten No. 17 in Lunacharsky Street of the “Silk” microdistrict of Bendery was repaired. The work was carried out at the expense of the Fund for the Execution of Voters' Orders. The old asphalt had large holes. Local authorities cannot find free funds to repair both pedestrian areas and asphalt pavement in courtyards and driveways within neighborhoods, because the bulk of the city Road Fund goes to repair public roads.

The problem of the lack of proper funding for repairs of courtyard areas and intra-block passages does not concern just one microdistrict or one city, it is everywhere. Deputies of the Supreme Council can partially fulfill the requests of residents of their districts through the operation of the Voter Order Fund program. Thus, voters of the Shelkovy microdistrict raised the issue of repairing the sidewalk on Lunacharsky Street with the Deputy of the Supreme Council Anton Onufrienko. The parliamentarian responded to the request and allocated funding from the Fund for the Execution of Voter Orders to repair the sidewalk. The work took place in two stages – last year and this year.

The sidewalk repair was continued further along Lunacharsky Street towards the rehabilitation center for disabled children due to the parliamentary program for 2024. Another 100 meters are paved with paving slabs.

Replacement of windows in the entrances of several houses is planned at the expense of the Voter Mandates Fund for this year in “Leninsky” constituency No. 4 of In Bendery. The deputy program in the republic has been in effect since 2018. Funding from the republican budget is annually allocated to each electoral district of a deputy of the Supreme Council. Parliamentarians can direct funding to solve many problems in their district thanks to the program: landscaping, repairing courtyard areas, developing playgrounds, pedestrian paths and for other purposes.

However, this is not a systematic work to eliminate injury-prone areas, since there is not enough funding from the Fund for the Execution of Voter Orders to repair all pedestrian areas in the district, says parliamentarian Anton Onufrienko.
