The PMR Supreme Council Deputies gathered today for the 2nd emergency meeting of the 5th session of the 7th convocation in an online format. The parliamentarians unanimously supported the proposal of the PMR President to extend the state of emergency in the republic for another 30 days.
The Decree of the PMR President "On the extension of the regime of the Black Sea Economic Policy in the territory of the PMR" was submitted for approval to the Supreme Council. According to the legislation, the duration of the state of emergency imposed throughout the republic cannot exceed 30 days. The extension of the state of emergency is carried out in compliance with the requirements established by the constitutional law "On Special Legal Regimes" for the introduction of a state of emergency.
The regime of state of emergency in the economy in Pridnestrovie was first introduced on October 21, 2022 due to a decrease in Moldova's supplies of Russian natural gas to Pridnestrovie, the volumes of which were not enough either for the operation of enterprises, or for the needs of the population, or for generating export electricity from the Moldavian GRES. The state of emergency in the economy makes it possible to redistribute incoming natural gas between enterprises, the population and heat supply organizations, depending on various factors: outdoor air temperature, the volume of work of enterprises, the volume of gas supply, and electricity generation.
The state of emergency economic situation has been established in Pridnestrovie until March 1 inclusive. Due to the failure to normalize the economic situation caused by the reduction in the volume of natural gas supplied to the PMR and as a result the insufficiency of natural gas to supply industrial consumers, heat supply organizations, consumers of electrical energy and the impossibility of fulfilling in full the obligations to generate electrical energy for export, and in connection with the continuing need to provide measures to bring the state economy out of the crisis, the PMR President proposed to extend the state of emergency economic situation until March 31 inclusive.
Deputies of the Supreme Council of the PMR supported the decree of the President unanimously.
