31.05.2023

Deputies of the Committee on Social Policy, Health Care, Labor, Family and Childhood Issues, based on citizens' appeals, initiated changes to the Law of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic "On State Support for Young Families in Acquisition of Housing". One of its authors, the head of the relevant Committee on Social Policy Sergey Cheban noted, presenting the law-in-draft, that initially it was impossible to foresee all the situations that may arise in people's lives in the law, so there is a need to make changes and additions.

Citizens of Pridnestrovie working in budgetary organizations (the categories are prescribed in the law) who have not reached the age of 36 and are members of a young family are entitled to a state subsidy according to the current norms of the law “On State Support for Young Families in Acquisition of Housing”. There must be no outstanding loans for the purchase of housing or housing – in private or common ownership – within 3 years before applying for a subsidy. A state subsidy can be issued if the applied citizen has property in common with other persons, the area of which is less than 12 square meters or is absent (the recipient) and the spouse (wife) of the recipient in private or in common property with other persons for 3 years preceding the day of applying for a state subsidy. It was at this point that the deputies of the relevant Committee proposed to make changes.

The Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic supported the legislative initiative of fellow parliamentarians in the first reading. A citizen will be able to apply for a subsidy for the purchase of housing if he and his wife (spouse) within three years before applying for a subsidy did not have private or common ownership of housing with an area of 12 or more square meters ( per 1 member of a young family), according to the new version of the law.

Sergei Cheban emphasized that it is planned to adopt amendments to the law “On State Support for Young Families in Acquisition of Housing” in the second reading before the end of the spring session of Parliament.
