Dragon boat regatta for Metallurgist Day in Rybnitsa

Regatta on dragon class boats took place in Rybnitsa, on the eve of Metallurgist Day on July 20. It became a continuation of the sports marathon, which traditionally takes place in the metallurgists' microdistrict in honor of their professional holiday. Sports competitions began at 8:30 am with the track and field relay race. The program included competitions in football, volleyball, basketball, bench press, tug of war, arm wrestling, as well as chess, billiards and darts. The tournaments were held at the stadium, indoor stage and in the gym of city school No. 10. Children were fascinated by master classes in fine arts and competitions.

The dragon boat rowing regatta was held in Rybnitsa for the first time. It started at noon on the Dniester embankment. The organizer was the Moldavian Metallurgical Plant.

A festive sporting mood reigned on the Rybnitsa embankment. 16 teams from Rybnitsa, Tiraspol and Bendery in various subgroups were preparing for the dragon boat race. Teams from law enforcement agencies, teams from enterprises, and teams from various departments that united to participate in the regatta took part. For example, the girls from the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, who took part in the regatta for Metallurgist Day as part of the women's team with KommunalDorService from Bendery.

Deputy of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, Deputy General Director of Moldavian Metallurgical Plant Valentin Matveychuk supported the team, which included representatives of the Supreme Council Apparatus. The Moldavian Metallurgical Plant donated 4 “dragon” class boats to the Rybnitsa rowing base in April of this year; the plant employees take an active part in training and rowing competitions. The Moldavian Metallurgical Plant team took 1st place in the group among enterprises and organizations in June, at the regatta “The President's Family for Healthy Lifestyle”. Several teams of metallurgists took part in the regatta for Metallurgist Day. That’s why Valentin Matveychuk supported several teams at once.

The regatta judges called the race of the women's teams an exhibition. There was only one race and all three teams took part in it at once. The first competition – representatives of the Kvint enterprise, the second competition – the Association of Sports and Health, and the third–the team of the Supreme Council and KommunalDorServis. The team of the Parliament and the Bendery enterprise took the leading position after the starting whistle, but experienced participants in international European competitions from the Association of Sports and Health began to pull ahead. The boats of the two teams walked toe to toe the entire distance of 300 meters. The team of the Supreme Council of the PMR and KommunalDorServis took the lead at the finish line.

The results of the women's race at the Metallurgist's Day regatta are as follows:

1.31.82 – 1st place for the team of the Supreme Council of the PMR and the KommunalDorServis enterprise in Bendery

1.33.49 – 2nd place for the team of the Association of Sports and Health

1.48.25 – Third place for the team from the “Kvint” enterprise.

The first places in their groups according to the results of the races were taken by:

- Ministry of Internal Affairs (law enforcement agencies);

- Moldavian Metallurgical Plant team (enterprises and institutions);

- steelmaking shop (among the divisions of Moldavian Metallurgical Plant).

All winners and prize-winners of the dragon boat rowing regatta dedicated to Metallurgist Day were given well-deserved awards – medals, cups and commemorative coins made by the Pridnestrovian Republican Bank for the professional holiday of metallurgists.
