Development of tourism in Pridnestrovie: Parliament approved amendments to the law “On customs tariffs”

17.07.2024

The deputy corps in the course of the plenary meeting on July 17 approved in the final reading amendments to the law “On Customs Tariffs” which are designed to create more favorable conditions for the development of tourism in the republic.

The adopted law-in-draft, developed by the Government of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, exempts from customs duties goods imported for the implementation of tourism projects financed by government grants issued for the development of domestic, including rural tourism. Entrepreneurs will be able to import the necessary goods and equipment without additional costs, which will contribute to the development of tourism infrastructure. This measure of state support is aimed at increasing the tourist attractiveness of Pridnestrovie both in the domestic market and at the international level.

2023 in Pridnestrovie was the Year of the agro-industrial complex, rural areas and rural tourism. The state allocated more than 1.6 million rubles for the development of rural tourism in 2023. These funds were provided in the form of free and targeted grants from the republican budget. The Supreme Council adopted amendments to the laws “On corporate income tax”, “On personal income tax”, “Special regime - simplified taxation system” on July 3. According to them, funds received by organizations, individuals and entrepreneurs in the form of government grants (free subsidies) for the development of tourism in the PMR will be exempt from taxation from January 1, 2025: income tax and revenue tax. Another support measure has been adopted today – exemption from customs duties on goods that were purchased through government subsidies for the development of domestic tourism in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.

The law-in-draft has been sent for signature by the President and will come into force on January 1, 2025.
