Deputies Galina Antyufeeva, Oleg Petrik and Gregory Dyachenko proposed to provide benefits when paying for housing and communal services to adult children of visually impaired persons of group I who are studying full-time in educational institutions. As the authors explained, the law-in-draft on amending the law "On social protection of disabled people" was developed based on citizens' appeals.

50% discount on housing and communal services is provided to visually impaired persons of group I, their spouse and minor children dependent on them according to the current norms of the specialized law. If there are 2 or more visually impaired or deaf people in the family, the discount will be 100%. A similar 100% discount is guaranteed to single visually impaired persons of the first group and their minor children.

The initiative developed by parliamentarians proposes to provide corresponding benefits in the amount of 50 and 100% to adult children of visually impaired persons of the first group who are studying full-time in educational institutions. The benefit will be valid until the end of their studies, but not longer than until they reach the age of 23.

Presenting the law-in-draft in the course of the plenary session, one of the authors, Galina Antyufeeva, clarified that if the proposed norms are adopted in the final reading, 5 people will be able to take advantage of such a benefit this year.

The deputies supported the initiative of their fellow parliamentarians in the first reading at the plenary session. Proposals were made to extend the proposed norms to all disabled persons of the first group. Work on the law-in-draft will be continued.
