The Work on the Budget Code

06.07.2022

Parliamentarians considered the draft Budget Code of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic in the course of the plenary session today. Work on this document within the framework of the meetings of the working group has been going on for a long time. It included deputies of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, representatives of the Accounts Chamber, the Prosecutor's Office and local authorities.

The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky spoke about the need to adopt the Budget Code in Pridnestrovie in his address to state authorities in January 2021 for the first time. He noted the need to approve the current norms of the budgetary legislation of the PMR due to the fact that the current version of the Law "On the budgetary system" is morally outdated and requires serious improvement.

The main provisions of the Budget Code: rights, obligations, responsibility and transparency. The law-in-draft clearly sets out the mandatory rights and obligations of all participants in the budget process, as well as the procedure for adopting, approving, executing and monitoring the execution of budgets at all levels and establishing liability for violations of budget legislation.

The document, which will regulate all budgetary processes in the country, must meet these requirements and be understandable to any public sector employee, middle manager or manager, the parliamentarians consider.

The Parliamentarians adopted the Budget Code of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic in the first reading today. Work on the document will continue in preparation for the second reading. As the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Alexander Korshunov noted, it is planned to adopt the Budget Code this year with the interaction of the relevant Committee on Economic Policy with representatives of the Government.
