Work of “The Obnovlenie” faction on the eve of the plenary session

28.10.2020

An online meeting of the "Obnovlenie" (Renewal) faction took place today, before the start of the plenary session of the Supreme Council. The faction deputies discussed a number of legislations on the agenda of today's plenary session.

The deputies propose to increase the size of pensions for some categories of citizens, in particular, those who have a long record of work, but the wages during the working period were low. It is proposed to change the formula for calculating the pension. According to the current legislation, the length of service for men must be 25 years, for women 20. An additional amount will be charged in addition to this for additional years of work. How much will depend on the budget of the Pension Fund and the budget of the Social Insurance Fund.

Another law-in-draft of a social nature, proposed by the deputies, concerns the accrual of pensions for the widows of those killed in the line of duty in peacetime. Upon reaching the age of retirement and registration, widows will retain the right to a survivor's pension for the deceased. Today, amendments to the law "On state pension provision of citizens in the PMR" are considered in the first reading.

One of the issues discussed at the online meeting of the "Obnovlenie" (Renewal) faction was the issue of the current norm of the law, which obliges to conclude an agreement for maintenance of water consumption meters. Deputies Anton Onufrienko and Grigory Dyachenko came up with a legislative initiative to exclude this rule from the current legislation and give people the right to choose whether to conclude such an agreement or not. The parliamentarians were divided. The faction deputies decided to recommend that this law-in-draft be withdrawn from consideration at the plenary session in order to study the issue in more detail.
