Food self-sufficiency, rational use of land and natural resources: report of the Ministry of Agriculture

01.03.2022

Pridnestrovie must independently provide itself with food: vegetables, fruits, milk and meat. This topic became one of the main ones at the Collegium of the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Both the heads of the department and the President of the PMR spoke about the development of important branches of the agro-industrial complex. The state program for the development of the agro-industrial complex was adopted by the Supreme Council in 2019 and is calculated until 2026. Deputy Head of the Ministry of Agriculture Oleg Diligul emphasized that the yield increased last year largely due to the use of scientific achievements in combination with the support of the agro-industrial complex at the state level. Grains last year were harvested 645 thousand tons, winter wheat - 385 thousand tons, corn for grain - 185 thousand tons, sunflower - 124 thousand tons, vegetables - 35 thousand tons, fruits - 18.5 thousand tons, grapes - 22 thousand tons, potatoes - 8 thousand tons.

The development of the reclamation complex will contribute to an increase in the area of fruits and vegetables. Two head pumping stations and six pumping stations were overhauled last year. There are 57 stations in total. The task in the coming year is to expand the area of irrigated land from 23.5 thousand hectares to 30 thousand hectares. Funds for the development of the reclamation complex - more than 30 million rubles - were allocated from the target budget fund.

It is important, as noted in the Ministry of Agriculture, that the production of livestock products is growing. Pridnestrovian farmers began to supply more pork, beef and poultry to the local market. Milk production has increased to 14.4 thousand tons per year. The department emphasizes that state subsidies in the form of a payment of 1 ruble for each liter of milk handed over for processing play a big role in this. 42 organizations applied for subsidies, 30 of which are peasant farms. 12.8 million rubles were financed during the year. The number of cattle increased by 17.9% over the year. Almost 3.2 million rubles were allocated from the budget for the purchase of 245 heifers in 2021.

The Head of the PMR Supreme Council Committee on Agro-Industrial Complex Oleg Leontiev emphasized that he was pleased with the constructive joint work with the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

Deputies of the Supreme Council, who participated in the meeting of the Collegium asked a number of interesting questions. In particular, about the purchase of timber by local firms or how the Government will react to the changing situation around Pridnestrovie, preparing for the new agricultural season for example. The Chairman of the Government Alexander Martynov took the floor and said that by the end of the week the forecast for the development of the Pridnestrovian economy under the influence of external factors and new challenges would be presented to the President and the Supreme Council.

According to the Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources of the PMR Alexander Rozenberg, the main areas of work will be the development of a land cadastre and the development of a reclamation complex in 2022. The Head of the department spoke about problems in the field of forestry, water resources and subsoil use.

Based on the results of the past year, the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky gave a satisfactory assessment of the work of the Ministry of Agriculture and set a number of tasks for the department to develop agriculture and preserve the natural resources of the republic.
