The situation in agriculture is the main issue of today's Consultative Assembly of the first Pridnestrovian deputies. Information on the results of last year to the founders of the republic was presented by the Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources Efimy Koval.
There are 363 thousand ha of land in the republic, 260 thousand ha of which are agricultural land. 61% are cereals, 35% - industrial crops, 3% - forage crops, 1% - vegetables.
Last year, the agro-industrial complex development program for 2019–2026 was adopted. It should ensure food security for the republic.
Orchards currently occupy 2,190 ha. Most of them are stone fruit, since they are in demand during export.
In 2019, 486 thousand tons of grain were harvested. This is about 1 ton per inhabitant. New technologies are being introduced.
Particularly, the Head of the department focused on the development of land reclamation. Last year, more than 20 thousand hectares of land were affected by drought. Farms that did not have watering suffered serious losses. The republic has a program for the development of land reclamation, a lot has been done, but funding is limited.
An important topic is animal husbandry. The republic is not yet adequately provided with its own meat and dairy products, but its volume is growing. The annual increase in milk amounted to 24%, for meat - 28%. There is an economic interest. Purchase prices was increased, a subsidy for milk was introduced, which is being processed. The number of cattle is growing. The first deputies were interested in how things are going with countering the spread of ragweed, what kind of work is being done by the ministry in this direction.
The Head of the Ministry of Agriculture said that 1 million rubles have been allocated from the state budget for the fight against ambrosia.
The founders of the republic, on their part, proposed to expand the practice of farm insurance in case of adverse weather conditions, and if necessary, introduce state risk insurance.
