The Supreme Council adopted in the second final reading the draft state program “Improvement and preservation of burial places of Heroes of the Soviet Union, full holders of the Order of Glory and Memorials of Military Glory of the Great Patriotic War” for 2024–2025”. Repair and construction work will take place in Tiraspol, Bendery, Dubossary, Slobodzeya, Grigoriopol and Rybnitsa districts. A total of 24 objects are designated, including the Memorial of Glory of the Novotiraspolsky village, which was added to the program list as part of the second reading.
Work on memorial sites is distributed over two years and will be completed in the year of celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. Over 16 million rubles are needed to implement the program. Financing will be provided by means of the Capital Investment Fund.
The list of memorial places was compiled taking into account the proposals of city and district government administrations. The state program outlines both the improvement of military graves, Memorials of Glory, burial places of Heroes of the Soviet Union and full holders of the Order of Glory, and the construction of new facilities. For example, the monument to the veteran of the Great Patriotic War, Hero of the Soviet Union Fyodor Antonovich Ugnachev will be erected in Slobodzeya. Two portrait sculptures of Heroes of the Soviet Union Ivan Alekseevich Kuznetsov and Semyon Grigorievich Sobolev will be installed in the village of Malaeshty, Grigoriopol district.
The Ministry of Defense together with city and district state administrations will oversee the implementation of the two-year state program. The accepted draft is sent for signing and official publication.
