The Supreme Council adopted the amendments to the laws concerning the provision of pensions to citizens in the second final reading. The legislative initiative was proposed by deputies Alexander Korshunov, Sergey Cheban and Vladimir Pelin.
Survivor's pension is a social benefit received by disabled relatives of a deceased person. It is prescribed to children, as well as to the parents and spouses of the deceased usually, if they have reached retirement age or have a disability. The prerequisite for the development of a legislative initiative was the collective appeal of cadets, who from 2023 have ceased to receive such payments.
The survivor's pension is granted to children at the moment (brothers, sisters and grandchildren) studying full-time in educational institutions until they reach the age of 23. Students and cadets of educational institutions who are considered to be in the service of law enforcement or military service do not receive such a pension, since they are fully supported by the state. This means that the state provides them with free food, a set of clothes and shoes, a place in a hostel or barracks, as well as free medical care.
The proposed legislations clarify the categories of disabled family members who are entitled to a pension in the event of the loss of a breadwinner. It concerns cadets who are educated at the Tiraspol Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic named after M. I. Kutuzov, but are not permanently in the military barracks. Many people go home for the weekend.
The President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic expressed the opinion that he did not object to the adoption of this law-in-draft after the first reading. In an effort to ensure the principle of social justice, the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic proposed to expand the circle of persons entitled to receive a pension in case of loss of a breadwinner. It was proposed to include in this list students who study at the Military Institute of the Ministry of Defense of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic named after Lieutenant General Alexander Lebed.
The deputies supported the legislative initiative unanimously, it will come into force 14 days after signing by the President.
