The Pridnestrovian parliamentary delegation took part in the International Forum of the Union State "Great Heritage - Common Future", which was held from April 28 to 30 in Volgograd. The Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Alexander Korshunov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Legislation, Law Enforcement Agencies, Defense, Security, Peacekeeping, Protection of Citizens' Rights and Freedoms Gregory Dyachenko and Plenipotentiary Representative of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic in the Russian Federation on Interparliamentary Cooperation Olga Gukalenko went to the hero city from Pridnestrovie at the invitation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia. Representatives of more than 20 countries, including those from Europe, Southeast Asia and Latin America, took part in the patriotic forum dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. The venue was not chosen by chance. Today's Volgograd was called Stalingrad during the Great Patriotic War. It was here that one of the main battles of the 1941-1945 war took place: the Battle of Stalingrad became a turning point not only in the Great Patriotic War, but also in the entire Second World War. The word "Stalingrad" has become synonymous with Victory. Victory that came at a high price. More than a million Soviet soldiers gave their lives defending the city. The very first event of the forum was the laying of wreaths by the heads of delegations at the Eternal Flame on Mamayev Kurgan.
Discussions on such topics as preserving historical memory, common moral and spiritual values, raising the younger generation in the spirit of patriotism and loyalty to the Fatherland were held in the course of the forum. The head of the Pridnestrovian delegation Alexander Korshunov made a report in the section "Preservation and Protection of Common Historical Memory".
Alexander Korshunov told the forum participants about the work carried out in Pridnestrovie to preserve memory, improve monuments and memorials, and about parliamentary cooperation.
Deputy of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Gregory Dyachenko noted that one of the most striking speeches was the speech of the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. He said that it is necessary not be afraid to show terrible footage of the war in order to preserve historical memory. Representatives of educational institutions and public figures spoke at the forum about patriotic education based on historical knowledge. Parliamentarians from different countries recalled the fates of their grandfathers and great-grandfathers. The forum participants became spectators of the unique show "Light of the Great Victory", which took place on Mamayev Kurgan and which will be shown to Volgograd residents on Victory Day, said deputy Gregory Dyachenko. This performance has been held since 2016, but each time - with a different scenario. The light show tells about the heroes and key events of the Great Patriotic War. Chairman of the State Duma of Russia Vyacheslav Volodin said at the final plenary session that a decision had been made to make the forum every year. He also added: on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a decision will be made to create a Commission for the Protection of Historical Memory at the next session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia.
