Pridnestrovie participates in the "St. George Ribbon" all-Russian campaign every year. Volunteers handed out the Victory symbol in all towns and districts of the republic. Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Galina Antyufeyeva took part in the event.
The mass event in Dubossary started at the Memorial of Military Glory. The Supreme Council Deputy Boris German, Chairman of the Dubossary Council of People's Deputies Alexander Kolomytsev, Deputy Head of the State Administration Natalia Kravets, representatives of the "Obnovlenie" Republican Party, the Union of Veterans of the Republican Guard and residents of the town participated in the event. At the beginning of the event, the Head of the apparatus of the local branch of the party Irina Vladimirova spoke about the history of the St. George ribbon, its significance for preserving the memory of the victories of our people in battles in the defense of the Motherland.
According to the Supreme Council Deputy Boris German, the St. George ribbon is a symbol of the power of Russian weapons, a symbol of the courage and deeds of soldiers. The family archive of the parliamentarian contains the St. George cross of his grandfather Mikhail German.
Representatives of the “We Are Near!” Volunteer youth movement noted: it is a great honor for the heirs of the winners to participate in such an action, as it is a way to express gratitude for the Victory.
The participants of the event honored the memory of the participants of the Great Patriotic War with a minute of silence and laid flowers at the graves of the defenders of the town.
The start of the St. George's Ribbon mass event took place in Rybnitsa at the memorial sign to General K. Tsvetkov, who commanded the division that liberated the city in the spring of 1944. The ceremony was attended by deputies of the Supreme Council Valentin Matveychuk, Yakov Galak, Vasily Kunitskiy, Chairman of the city council Vadim Lozovskiy, deputy head of the state administration Yuri Moldovskiy. They called on young people to remember the feat of Soviet soldiers and not to forget about the veterans. The St. George ribbons were presented to the participants of the event and residents of the city.
The St. George Ribbon mass event will last until May 9. It has already become international, about a hundred countries participate in the event every year. Volunteers distribute about 20 million two-color ribbons.
