Pridnestrovie celebrates its main holiday - 32 years since the formation of the PMR as an independent state. The capital has traditionally become the center of festive events in the republic. The celebrations on the occasion of the country's birthday that began on the main square of Tiraspol were attended by the first persons of the state: the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky, Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Alexander Korshunov, Chairman of the Government of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Alexander Rosenberg, as well as parliamentarians, heads of cities and regions, representatives of ministries and departments of Pridnestrovie.
A traditional minute of silence was held at the Memorial of Glory, and the country's leadership and Pridnestrovians laid flowers at the graves of the heroes after that, who during the Great Patriotic War and in the early 90s defended the Pridnestrovian land at the cost of their own lives and defended the civilian population.
Artists of the Viorica and Vatra ensembles in national costumes on Suvorov Square carried two multi-meter banners – these are the flags of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and the Russian Federation. The state flag of the PMR was approved at the IV Congress of Deputies of all levels on September 2, 1991, who decided to preserve the traditions of the Moldavian SSR and abandon the Romanian tricolor. The law on the use of the Russian flag in Pridnestrovie along with the flag of the PMR was adopted in April 2017. According to the document, the Russian flag is hoisted simultaneously with the Pridnestrovian one on the buildings of the Presidential Administration, the Supreme Council, the Government and other departmental and administrative buildings. Both flags are constantly installed in the meeting room of the Supreme Council, in the Government, in courtrooms and in local authorities.
The state flags were raised over the main square of Tiraspol after the performance of the anthem of Pridnestrovie by the orchestra of the Main Headquarters of the Ministry of Defense of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.
There was no parade in Tiraspol this year. A company of the Guard of Honor of the Ministry of Defense of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic performed on the square as part of the festive program. They demonstrated special combat training and techniques with weapons accompanied by the orchestra of the General Staff.
