The Youth Parliament Presidium under the PMR Supreme Council meeting took place at the end of last week. One of the key items on the agenda was the discussion of the proposal to amend the Law of the PMR "On granting the right to discounted travel on public transport to certain categories of citizens". The law-in-draft proposes postponing the expiration date of some travel benefits from July 1 to August 1.
Travel benefits for students on public transport on urban, suburban and intercity routes are valid until July 1. Young parliamentarians propose extending the discounted travel until August 1, which will allow students of higher and secondary educational institutions to continue to enjoy the discount when traveling on public transport on urban, suburban and intercity routes during the summer months. The Youth Parliament notes that the summer session, educational practice and research work of students can last the entire July. For example, industrial and educational practice in some branches and faculties of the Pridnestrovian State University named after Shevchenko lasted until July 26 inclusive, according to the schedule of the educational process for the 2023-2024 academic year. This issue was submitted to the plenary session of the Youth Parliament, which will be held on December 20. Such issues as approval of the work plan of the committees of the Youth Parliament for 2025, preparation of reports for the period from 01.01.2024 to 01.01.2025, as well as the election of a new chairman of the Committee on Education, Science and Culture and recognition of the powers of the new deputy of the Youth Parliament under the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic were considered at the meeting of the Presidium.
