"The Blood Peony" Premiere

03.06.2022

The premiere screening of a documentary by the First Pridnestrovian TV Channel about the Bujor Moldovan terrorist group in the early 1990s was held today at the Tiraspol cinema. Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Alexander Korshunov, Chairman of the Government of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Alexander Rosenberg, and Vice Speaker Galina Antyufeeva were invited to the premiere. There were eyewitnesses of those events.

The documentary was shown on the big screen with a full hall. Here were those who themselves participated in the creation of Pridnestrovie as a state and remember what happened on both banks of the Dniester in the early 90s. Thus, Deputy Chairman of the Consultative Assembly of the first Pridnestrovian deputies Anna Volkova, on whose memoirs and books the scriptwriter and director relied when creating the film, noted that the main goal of the terrorists of the Bujor group was to sow fear and horror. However, the goal was not achieved. The people, on the contrary, rallied even more.

"The Blood Peony" title for the documentary was not chosen by chance. After all, "bujor" in translation from the Moldovan language means the same flower. The authors managed to collect in their picture the memories of eyewitnesses, relatives and relatives of the dead Nikolai Ostapenko and Alexander Gusar. So, for the first time, full memories of an eyewitness to the attack on Alexander Gusar, became a hostage of terrorists and almost died, sounded on the screen. She recalled the difficult situation and her daughter, Elena Gusar. The current Head of the Slobodzeya district Vasily Tishchenko who worked with Gusar and Ostapenko, shared his memories. Of course, the First President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Igor Smirnov spoke about the situation in the young republic.

"The Blood Peony" touched upon such a painful topic for many as the liberation of the terrorist group Ilashku, using unique footage. An open screening will take place this Monday at the Tiraspol cinema at 10 am.
