One of the founders of the Russian avant-garde, painter, graphic artist, set designer and art theorist, world-famous Mikhail Larionov was born in Tiraspol on June 3 (May 22, old style) 1881. The premiere of the documentary film, dedicated to the famous countryman, took place in the Tiraspol civic center of the capital. The PMR Supreme Council Deputy Ilona Tyuryaeva came to the premiere.
The premiere of the documentary film “Mikhail Larionov: in the rays of the rising sun” took place in the dark-blue hall of the cinema. The production of the film was carried out by the “Trio” intellectual production center, headed by the Honored Artist of Pridnestrovie, director Natalya Golub. She noted before the show that Mikhail Larionov is bright and original, he truly glorified his small homeland, sang it in his works.
The film tells the story of the artist’s life and work, his brilliant tandem with his wife Natalya Goncharova, and his lifelong love for his native Tiraspol, in which the artist saw “Russian Tahiti”. It was in this southern Russian city that most of Larionov’s early works were born: landscapes in the spirit of French impressionism, painted in the 1900s in a Tiraspol estate, and “gallant genres”, and “down-to-earth” series, the heroes of which were residents of the province, as well as dogs, geese, chickens, oxen and pigs. It was the life and bright colors of the province that inspired Larionov to create an original artistic movement - neo-primitivism. Many of the heroes of his “Soldier Series” were secelted at home.
The authors paid attention to both the artist’s innovation and rebellious beginnings in the documentary film “Mikhail Larionov: in the rays of the rising sun”. The film contained staged scenes that show shocking style, the master of which was Mikhail Larionov. One of the ideologists of performance art – art in action, Larionov advised futurists to attract attention by walking in unusual outfits with painted faces. The idea was a scandalous success.
The chapter of the film “Returning Home” is dedicated to how Mikhail Larionov is honored in Tiraspol among other things. This began on the initiative of the deputy of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Ilona Tyuryaeva and with the support of the “Renewal” republican party, through which a memorial stone was installed, drawing competitions and plein-air painting “Imitating Larionov” are constantly held.
Pridnestrovian historians, art critics, and popularizers of the work of fellow countrymen artists speak about the milestones in the life of Mikhail Larionov and his work in the film. One of the experts was parliamentarian Ilona Tyuryaeva, the initiator of the Renewal party project “My Great Countrymen”.
The authors of the film thanked everyone who helped in the creation of the film “Mikhail Larionov: in the rays of the rising sun”. It is planned that another screening at the cinema will take place on June 3, the birthday of the famous countryman.
