Pridnestrovie has been celebrating Russian holiday - National Unity Day since 2012. The usual scenario for the past years of celebration this year has been corrected by the coronavirus pandemic. It was decided due to quarantine not to hold mass celebrations. Events on the occasion of National Unity Day were held at the capital's Memorial of Glory. The leadership of the republic paid tribute to the memory of the ancestors who united and protected the freedom of the peoples living on the lands along the Dniester. Flowers to the Eternal Flame, to the graves of defenders, to monuments located on the capital's Memorial of Glory were laid by the chairman of the parliamentary committee on legislation Galina Antyufeyeva. Flowers fell to the monuments to Empress Catherine the Great and the commander Alexander Suvorov.
The Head of the parliamentary committee on legislation focused on preserving the history and traditions of representatives of various nationalities in Russia. This is very significant, Galina Antyufeyeva emphasized.
National Unity Day has been celebrated in Russia since 2005. The holiday was established in memory of the events of 1612, when the people's militia led by Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky liberated Moscow from the Polish invaders.
