The Legitimate sick leave

14.07.2021

The Supreme Council adopted amendments to the anti-crisis law concerning the legality of paying sick leave to those who traveled outside the republic to receive medical care. There were appeals from citizens who noted that upon arrival they were in self-isolation for 14 days, in connection with which they were given a certificate of incapacity for work. However, such sick leave was recognized as illegal.

The changes apply to legal relations that arose from March 17, 2020. Earlier, the anti-crisis law prescribed cases of receiving sick leave and benefits for it for those who, for example, had contact with patients with coronavirus, went to the funeral of close relatives or as part of business trips, and also looked after a preschooler or disabled child who during the quarantine period did not attend educational institutions.

Deputies adopted amendments to the law "On measures of state support in connection with the introduction of a state of emergency and (or) restrictive measures (quarantine) aimed at preventing the spread of coronavirus infection caused by a new type of COVID-19 virus in 2020 and 2021" in two readings. The document has been sent for signature to the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.
