The dialogue on the parliamentary site concerned shelter for orphans and children left without parental care. According to the current legislation, this category of Pridnestrovian citizens has temporary registration if living in specialized institutions. Those who are under the care of individuals may be registered or have residence registration. There are cases when caregivers do not draw up these documents. In the absence of residence registration the State is not entitled to provide social benefits and privileges. A government initiative to amend the law "On additional guarantees for the social protection of orphans and children left without parental care" was represented for consideration of the Supreme Council in the interests of minor children. The document is about the possibility to register for social guarantees by their wards only after registration or residence registration. Providing by the state of dwelling to these persons was discussed during the meeting. To date, more than 400 orphans are in the queue for public housing. After the adoption of the amendments this group of persons will have the right of choice - to get accommodation at the place of birth, identifying in social institutes or last place of residence.
The law-in-draft was adopted in the first reading. Profile Committee on Social Policy will continue working on it in preparation for the second reading of the document.
