At the initiative of the President, the 2018th in Pridnestrovie is declared the Year of Equal Opportunities. During the year, various events were held in cities and regions of the republic to draw attention to the problems of people with disabilities.
Another occasion to meet with voters of district No. 36 “Central” in Tiraspol was the International Day of Blind People, celebrated today, giving the opportunity to once again draw attention to the problems of a particular category of citizens.
Parliamentarian Ilona Tyuryaeva gifted a computer to the Republican Sports Center for Persons with Disabilities and a laptop to the Tiraspol society of blind and visually impaired people.
It is planned to give the sports facility the status of a republican. Here it is planned to open a gym, a gym for competitions in various sports. The equipped center will be able to train para-athletes from all over Pridnestrovie.
Attention to the visually impaired is another sign that the republic is trying to support people with special life needs.
"The Rassvet" - is one of the few in the post-Soviet space, the company that provides work for blind people. It was created in Tiraspol about seventy years ago. "The Rassvet" successfully worked in Soviet times, and after the collapse of a great country, it practically ceased to exist. Over the past years, the company, which the visually impaired themselves need, has begun to revive. Today it produces consumer goods: clothespins, electrical extenders.
Parliamentarian Ilona Tyuryaeva during the meeting said that the committee on social policy of the Supreme Council was involved in the delivery of humanitarian aid in the form of wheelchairs, wheelchairs, walkers, and anti-cushion mattresses.
Ilona Tyuryaeva added that next year the republican contest “Our city for all” will start. Its goal is to involve society in the formation of such an infrastructure that would allow people with disabilities and people with limited mobility to feel more comfortable.
