The decision to establish the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic was made on September 2, 1990, at the II Extraordinary Congress of Deputies of All Levels. The PMR Supreme Council Deputies congratulated Pridnestrovians on the main state holiday today, on the day of the 34th anniversary of the PMR formation.
The statehood and independence of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic were proclaimed in full compliance with the fundamental documents of international law. The main goal and principles of development of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic for 34 years now have been political stability, economic self-sufficiency and social justice with a focus on strengthening independence and gaining broad international recognition, protecting the rights, freedoms and identity of the Pridnestrovian people.
The 34 years of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic's existence have been filled with bright events. There have been reasons for both joy and sadness. Our republic has faced many difficulties for almost three and a half decades, but it has survived. Pridnestrovie is developing today, schools, hospitals and kindergartens are being built and reconstructed. Pridnestrovians are proud of their past and look to the future with optimism.
Pridnestrovie is a unique state. More than 70 nationalities and ethnic groups have lived here in peace and harmony for many years: Russians, Moldovans, Ukrainians, Bulgarians, Gagauz, Jews and many others. All of them are Pridnestrovians.
A new generation of Pridnestrovians was born and grew up in the republic over the past 34 years. A generation brought up in the spirit of respect for traditional values and our unique culture. A generation that sincerely strives for the prosperity of our state. A generation that is already beginning to fill new bright pages in the history of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.
