Oleg Horzhan became a former deputy. The deputies adopted a resolution of the parliament, according to which the powers of the people's deputy were terminated early. This is directly prescribed by the norms of the current law “On the Status of a Deputy of the Supreme Council of the PMR”.

The basis for the adoption of such a decision by the legislators was the information of the prosecutor of the republic, as well as an extract from the verdict of the Supreme Court of the PMR dated January 15, 2019 regarding the entry into force of a conviction against deputy of the Supreme Council Oleg Horzhan, elected in December 2015 in the single-member electoral district No. 40 Kakhovsky in Tiraspol. Adopted by the deputies the resolution will come into effect on January 24 of the current year.

By the decision of the Supreme Council, the by-election of the deputy of the Supreme Council in the constituency No. 40 “Kakhovsky” is scheduled for January 12, 2020. The document also instructed the Central Election Commission to submit, by March 1, 2019, an estimate of the cost of holding by-elections for consideration by the legislature.

For information, Oleg Horzhan was found guilty of committing a number of criminal offenses and sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in a penal colony of general regime.
