Deputies of the Supreme Council today at an online meeting supported the initiative of a group of parliamentarians to amend the law "On social protection of veterans and persons of retirement age". According to the amendment, it is proposed to legislate the right of older people, if necessary to receive wheelchairs, walkers and other mobility aids from the state. Now the law allows only disabled.
The deputies explained: often people of retirement age in constituencies ask for help with purchasing, for example, a wheelchair. They either suffer from diseases that prevent them from moving normally, or it is difficult for them to walk due to their old age.
The Supreme Council will continue working on the law-in-draft in the second reading, taking into account the amendments and proposals of the Ministry of Social Protection and the Ministry of Health.
