Amendments to the Criminal Code: exemption from criminal liability when fulfilling financial obligations

The Parliament considered the initiative of the deputy Alexander Korshunov to amend the Criminal Code of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. According to the explanatory note, an official is released from criminal liability if he commits a crime for the first time and within two months has fully repaid arrears in wages, pensions, scholarships, benefits.

The Committee on Legislation noted that the law-in-draft aims to liberalize the Criminal Code and ensure fairness and protection of workers' rights, as well as to create conditions for employers to be more responsible in their financial obligations.

The law-in-draft was unanimously supported by the deputy corps in two readings at once and will come into force from the day it is signed by the President.
