June 19, 1992 the war broke in Bendery. The aggression against the peaceful city continued40 days. The Bendery tragedy claimed the lives of hundreds of Pridnestrovians. 489 people were killed, including 132 civilians and 5 children. This is more than a thousand wounded, and 40 missing. Every year this day in the city lowered flags with black ribbons, recall the events of those years, pay tribute to those who with weapons in their hands defended the city, defended the right to live on their native land. The President Vadim Krasnoselsky, head of the government Alexander Martynov, Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Shcherba, deputies, members of the government, defenders of the republic, relatives and friends of the deceased, representatives of public organizations, youth took the road of memory from the Liberation Square to the Memorial of Memory and Sorrow. Cossacks, mothers and wives of defenders with portraits of the dead heroes. To the Eternal Flame lay the living flowers.
The head of the republic noted that not everyone today understands the events of the year 92. Vadim Krasnoselsky supposes that this tragedy is not only of the Pridnestrovian, but also of Moldavian people. Today there are revanchist statements in Moldova about the withdrawal of Russian troops from Pridnestrovie, the change of the peacekeeping operation. According to the President, this will lead to an escalation of the conflict.
120 heroes who have defended the statehood of Pridnestrovie, its freedom and independence are buried in the Alley of Glory of the Borisovskoye Cemetery. Archbishop of Tiraspol and Dubossary Savva served in their memory.
Alexander Scherba is sure: memory is necessary and important, it is the foundation of our future. It must be built on the basis of true human values.
Real flowers were laid to the graves of defenders by representatives of state and local authorities.
