A solemn meeting dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the formation of the fire protection was held in the city palace of culture. April 17 Pridnestrovie firemen celebrate their professional holiday. The President of the Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky and Speaker of the Parliament Alexander Shcherba sent greetings to the staff of the Fire Department and fire departments of cities and regions. Representatives of public authorities noted the special role of fire fighters in protecting the security of citizens.

The history of firefighting goes far into the centuries. Wooden buildings of ancient settlements often had to be saved from domestic fires and military arson attacks. At the state level, fire safety issues were raised in 1918. 100 years ago on April 17, Vladimir Lenin signed the Decree "On the organization of state measures to combat fire". The document noted the need for systematic firefighting measures and fire prevention, the publication of rules and instructions, the development of modern technology.

During the Great Patriotic War, Soviet firefighters rescued from the fire bombed cities and cultural objects. They were the first who came to the rescue during the Chernobyl accident. Traditions of the Soviet fire protection formed the basis for the formation and development of the Pridnestrovian fire units, which were formed in 1991. A year later, the Pridnestrovian firefighters saved the lives of civilians in burning Bendery, defending the republic.

There are 9 fire units on the territory of the republic, which are located in all cities and regions. There are more than six hundred people serve in it. Minister of Internal Affairs Ruslan Mova congratulated Pridnestrovian firefighters on behalf of the President.

Special words of gratitude sounded to the veterans of the service. Ruslan Mova informed that in the near future for the firefighters refresher courses will be organized, and an important contribution to the training of today's rescuers will be made by experienced professionals, veterans of fire protection.

Welcome address on behalf of the Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Shcherba was given to the head of the Fire Department by the member of the Committee on Public Associations, Sport, Information and Youth Policy Ruslan Gareev.

Alexander Shcherba cited the words of the Russian writer Vladimir Gilyarovsky, who at one time mastered the profession of a fireman, "Every firefighter is a hero, lives his whole life in the war, he risks his head every minute!"
