Preparations for by-elections in the constituency of Parkany

12.03.2024

Two settlements in Pridnestrovie Parkany and Blizhny Khutor are preparing for the elections of the PMR Supreme Council deputy. By-elections for constituency No. 24 “Parkany” will be held on March 31. These villages have not had their own representative in the legislative body since December.

Their interests were defended previously by Ivan Nedelkov, who passed away on December 13, 2023. The election campaign for by-elections to the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic started on January 31. Voting is scheduled for March 31.

Candidates had to submit documents to the district election commission for nomination and registration as a candidate for deputy of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic until March 10, 2024 inclusive. Three candidates have nominated their candidacies for deputies of the Supreme Council (surnames are listed in alphabetical order): Svetlana Kanskaya, Nikolai Malyshev and Vladimir Timofeev. Two of them have already been registered as candidates.

Nominated candidates have the right to conduct election campaigning in their constituency, the CEC recalled.

More than 13.5 thousand voters can take part in the by-elections, which will be held on March 31 in the villages of Parkany and Blizhny Khutor. You can look at the website of the Central Election Commission in order not to confuse which voting precinct this or that house belongs to, the CEC reminds.

It is necessary to enter your address in the “Find your polling station” section to do this. The site will tell you not only the site number then, but propose the shortest path to it. You only need to take with you your PMR passport with registration or a military ID for conscripts.

As for the work of the Central Election Commission itself, the documents provided by one of the not yet registered candidates are currently being verified.

All 10 polling stations in Parkany and Nizhny Khutor will be open on March 31 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The counting of votes will begin immediately after the polls close. It is planned that the name of the elected deputy who will represent the interests of residents in the constituency of Parkany in the Supreme Council will become known on April 1.
