Support for folk craftsmen

24.05.2023

Several legislative initiatives that will help folk artisans sell their products at fairs and exhibitions were discussed by the Supreme Council deputies in the course of the plenary session. The Government of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and deputies of the Parliamentary Committee on Economic Policy, Budget and Finance presented their proposals.

The Government proposed to amend the Law of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic “On Personal Income Tax” and the PMR Law “On the Unified Social Tax and Mandatory Insurance Contribution”. Legislative initiatives suggest that the State Service for Culture and Historical Heritage will issue a document to folk artisans allowing them to participate in republican, city and regional exhibitions, fairs and auctions at the invitation of the executive authorities. Income received from the sale of handicrafts at such events will not be taxed in this case.

Deputies of the Parliamentary Committee on Economic Policy, Budget and Finance Viktor Guzun and Vadim Kravchuk initiated amendments to the Law of the PMR "Special Tax Regime - Patent System of Taxation" and the Law of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic "Special Tax Regime – on Self-Employed Persons". The proposed changes will allow individual entrepreneurs working under a patent or as self-employed to sell handicrafts at exhibitions and auctions.

The deputies supported the legislations in the first reading. Work on them will continue in the second reading.
