The order of water meters service must be optimized - supplement the law "On Drinking Water Supply" was adopted in the first reading. The initiative was proposed by Vadim Krasnoselsky whey he was a deputy. Numerous appeals of citizens are in its basis.

According to the chairman of the profile committee Oleg Vasilaty, the issue of maintenance of water meters is long overdue and requires to be addressed. The procedure for checking water meters, operating today, is the burden for the citizens both time and means.

However, many questions appeared during the discussion of the initiative. One of the main was - where to take the money to implement the proposals. To do this, you need to create an exchange of metering equipment fund. According to Industry Minister Nicolai Gliga, according to preliminary calculations, it will take more than a dozen million rubles. However, according to Oleg Vasilaty the costs on the formation of the exchange fund counters can be minimized if all subscribers will conclude with core enterprise service contracts. Those who have already done it, checking procedure is performed by monthly fee. If there is no agreement, it is necessary to conclude it during routine verification of the water meters.

Chairman of the Committee on Economic Policy, Budget and Finance Alexander Korshunov proposed as a pilot version the law-in- draft to implement the proposed mechanism in one of the cities of the republic to ensure its effectiveness and to clarify the financial component.

Responsible committee together with the relevant ministries plans to revise the law-in-draft in the second reading and resolve any contentious issues.
