The area of irrigated land in Pridnestrovie has doubled

The area of ​​irrigated land in Pridnestrovie increased from 8973 hectares in 2016 to 18851 hectares in 2020. The other day, the participants of the meeting on the development of the reclamation complex in the republic spoke about this in the Administration of the PMR President, according to the presidential press service.

The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky focused on the fact that Pridnestrovie is in the zone of risky agriculture.

It was noted at the meeting that this year it is planned to include 4000 hectares of farmland in the reclamation complex. Thus, irrigation will cover 22.5 thousand hectares of land.

The fact that modern technologies make it possible to increase the width of coverage by irrigation by 1.5-2 times in comparison with the sprinkler units of the last century was also said in the course of the meeting with the President. It was noted that interest among agrarians is growing. One of the important aspects is the consistently low cost of irrigation water.

The State Target Program for the development of land reclamation, designed for 5 years, will be updated based on the updated increased demand of agricultural producers, the participants of the meeting emphasized. Full implementation of the State Target Program requires at least 20 million rubles per year.

The Supreme Council at the end of 2020 adopted the law "On land reclamation in the PMR" and in the republican budget for 2021, the Development Fund for the reclamation complex was created.
