The first deputies honored the memory of their colleague

15.12.2022

The first Pridnestrovian deputies paid tribute to the memory of their colleague, the PMR Supreme Council Deputy of the first convocation Nikolai Ostapenko today. He would have turned 69 years old.

Nikolai Ostapenko is a person who made an invaluable contribution to the creation of Pridnestrovie. He fought for peace on the banks of the Dniester and died for the freedom and independence of his native land in the early 90s. His life was tragically cut short 30 years ago. The terrorists of the "Bujor" Moldavian special group under the leadership of Ilashku shot down Ostapenko's official car on the outskirts of the Slobodzeya village of Karagash on April 23, 1992. The Deputy of the Supreme Council of the first convocation died of his wounds a week later. He was 38 years old.

Those who were shoulder to shoulder with him at that difficult time gathered near his grave today, on the birthday of Nikolai Ostapenko. The first Pridnestrovian deputies remembered him as a wonderful person, teacher, patriot and politician. The life position of Nikolai Ostapenko, his fortitude and adherence to principles are still an example for the young generation of Pridnestrovians.
