Census takers must take census but not agitate

Decree of the President determined that regular population census of Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic to be held in mid-October this year. Due to the lack of funds, Russia provided leverage, allocating money for this event of great value to the community. Currently preparatory activities to organize and conduct in the census takes place in the republic.

However, important socio-political event just as the campaign for the election of deputies of the Supreme Council and deputies of local representative bodies will be in October 2015. A single day of voting will be held in the republic on November 29 this year. It is clear that this time candidates, their supporters, trustees, members of the election headquarters of candidates will conduct an active propaganda work. In this connection there were fears that the census takers, along with its direct functional responsibilities of the census, may conduct pre-election campaign. Deputy of the Supreme Council Gregory Dyachenko developed appropriate legislative initiative to exclude this possibility, to provide responsibility for this kind of behavior that can be qualified as a violation of the electoral law. It received 6 positive and one negative conclusion from the government. It was supported by deputies and the plenary meeting.

After discussion of 26 parliamentary votes "for" the adoption of the law-in-draft "On amendments to the Law "On Population Census in Pridnestrovie" was adopted in the first reading. It establishes a liability to those census takers who in the course of the census will conduct pre-election activities.
